Sorry if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that Aragon had a Grade 1T licence.

Re: The morality of F1 (this could be a short thread...)

Quite - and this shows how much: m I agree this article does not seem to make F1's involvement in Bahrain seem like a good idea. But it also shows the two-sidedness of holding big, international events at such places: If the having the race in Bahrain really was what motivated the Crown prince to s...

Re: The morality of F1 (this could be a short thread...)

Put simply, South Korea cannot be placed in the same 'boat' as Turkey, India, or any of the Middle Eastern countries. As far as I'm concerned, China shouldn't be either regardless of their record in human rights, ethics, or anything else. In fact, I believe none of the countries you mention can be ...

Flaviogates - generic name for almost all F1 scandals in the mid 90ies and mid 2000s.

Re: Bahrain - What a rubbish place to start a Championship!

I hope the race will be late enough in the championship so that we already know who will be champion - and can deservedly boycott the race then (if the current government remains in place, that is).

Re: Bahrain - What a rubbish place to start a Championship!

[...]still think it's a good idea to move an euro-centric sport from Europe to Bahrain and Abu Dhabi or Turkey? I agree with most of what you have said, but wouldn't describe F1 as an eurocentric sport. You yourself have mentioned tracks in North and South America (which, by the way, should have AT...

Re: Daytona 500

[...]during the Energy Crisis of the late 1970s, NASCAR dropped all races less than 300 miles from the Cup schedule. What?! Did they try to make a point? "Wasteful and proud of it"? But I agree - there are some races that really should be 500 miles - Daytona obviously being the prime exam...

Re: Daytona 500

It's not so much about the unrefined as it is about the boring - on some tracks (the Poconos and Fontanas of the world). And the races could all lose 100 miles and be no less interesting to watch. But apart from that, and of course I can only speak for the two countries I know well, Germany and Aust...

Gulf News is reporting (albeit in an article that might just as well be posted in the Naff Journalism thread) that the race will be postponed to the end (or towards the end) of the season. http://gulfnews.com/sport/motorsport/ba ... n-1.765003

The same "international streaming inks" mentioned above apply for Indycar as well as for NASCAR. Indycar also has an official stream (although sadly not the TV signal but good enough to follow what is going on) on indycarnation.indycar.com - registration is required, but membership and the...

Re: Reject Rules and Regulations

Can't agree with your hatred of the "must use both compounds" rule - has produced some interesting race. But, clearly, the most rejectful was the one (or rather two) lap qualifying rule a few years back. Bad and boring enough on it's own, what made this rule really rejectful was that they ...
